The business

Nigel Wright is delighted to be working in partnership with Schleich in their search for an experienced Senior Key Account Manager to lead high growth accounts with some of the UK's most recognisable names across high street and grocery retail.

Schleich was founded in 1935 in Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany. The company have become an industry leader in premium, hand detailed children toy figures and accessories that are as special as kids deserve. Schleich now supply products almost all over the world, main markets are United Kingdom, France, Australia and North America, they also have several additional production sites situated around the globe The business is growing rapidly in the UK and they are now looking for a key hire to join the UK sales team.  

Key responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with senior buyers across existing and new retail accounts (grocery, discounter and national retailers)
  • Hold regular meetings with retailers to include previews, business plans and key sell in periods
  • Prepare annual customer plans (aligned to the company business plan) to support deliverance of all budgetary requirements, KPIs and objectives
  • Maintain close working relationship with both the Sales Manager & Marketing Manager to ensure all objectives are achieved, particularly in the areas of pricing, promotions, customer terms and marketing
  • Work closely with the UK & European head office teams including customer support, logistics, development, and marketing to ensure the best solutions are delivered & day to day support for all retailers
  • Look for opportunities, develop and open new business within the national retail space
  • Regular reviews with finance to appraise credit limits and resolve PO/invoicing issues
  • Attend conferences, exhibitions and events where required
  • Be aware of all new developments in the marketplace (including competitor activity) and provide regular/relevant feedback to all internal stakeholders
  • Always implement best practice, ensuring first class customer service

Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • You are a pro-active and enthusiastic self-starter, with demonstrable record of success in a national retail space within grocery & discounters
  • You have excellent communication skills and can communicate effectively with colleagues and customers alike - both in written and verbal formats
  • You demonstrate experience of utilising reporting and operational functions (Power Bi/SAP)
  • You are willing to act on your own initiative and take decisions
  • You have great negotiation skills are able to reach a solution to the benefit of both the company and the customer
  • You ensure accurate deliverance of all activities, with the ability to work to deadlines
  • You are well organised and structured in all aspects to ensure all goals/objectives are achieved
  • You are a competent user of Office 365: Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • You are able to understand and interpret sales data, with the ability to present findings to both internal and external audiences
  • You are open to travelling both within the UK & overseas and possess a full UK driving license, and you are prepared to stay away from home when required
