The Company

We are pleased to be working exclusively with a leading food manufacturer based in the North East,  With a selection of brands tailored to the markets they serve they are seeking to extend the capability of their current team with the appointment of a commercial manager.  Product is sold and manufactured for markets across foodservice including premium hotel/restaurant, takeaway and quick serve environments.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for the following:

  • Direct control of day to day running of all Commercial areas of the business which include UK sales, Marketing and Transport.
  • Discussing and developing new strategies with Commercial Director to maximise sales in the UK domestic market and ensure they are implemented and monitored
  • Analysing data on sales and regional opportunities
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of our products and that of competitors
  • Identifying gaps in customer basket and driving forward sales
  • Supporting and coaching the Marketing team to maximise sales opportunities and directing sales focus
  • Ensuring standards are company policies and system control is maintained at all times
  • Track, measure and analyse commercial metrics using KPI’s
  • Developing an in depth understanding of how the sales function sits within the company structure and ways to improve and utilise the department effectively
  • Establishing and maintaining management relationship with other department managers for effective implementation of system/sales improvements
  • Managing and monitoring of all employees in the UK Sales team to ensure they are working to maximising potential
  • Identifying gaps in customer basket and driving forward sales (Identifying customers where sales opportunities are high and liaising with the sales account managers to successfully explore options available)
  • Looking at sales opportunities by region strategically to identify potential products for customers to maximising sales in those areas
  • People Management of the team and identifying any issues before they escalate further.
  • Liaise with HR to appraise staff performance and deal with any disciplinary issues which may arise

The Person

  • Background, preferably in the food industry
  • In depth knowledge of market analysis and metrics
  • Hands on experience in creating reporting and managing budgets
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage own diary
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Assertive and driven
  • Be hard working and driven
  • Excellent financial management skills
