NE1 was set up April 2009 as the Business Improvement District (BID) delivery company for Newcastle city centre. It is an independent, not for profit limited company. NE1 represents the interests of over 1,400 businesses in Newcastle City centre. Over the past decade, the company has grown considerably both in terms of its delivery and impact. It is well respected within the City and recognised nationally and internationally as one of the finest BID companies in operation today.

NE1 are looking for a Business Support Manager to join their Operations team. The focus of the role is to ensure that city businesses have the support and information they need to thrive in Newcastle.

The Opportunity

The Business Support Manager’s role will include

  • Being the ‘first responder’ to deal with any issues that may affect local businesses and the BID area.
  • Assisting and advising on changes that will further improve NE1’s existing strong relationships with city centre businesses.
  • Being proactive in troubleshooting problems of businesses across the City Centre.
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs relevant to the BID.
  • Supporting NE1’s projects and events programme.
  • Engaging with and informing businesses about NE1’s services, from marketing to event management, gaining a sound understanding of their needs and how NE1 can best provide support.

The Person

NE1 seeks a proactive individual who will be a passionate advocate for Newcastle City Centre and is keen to have a positive impact on city businesses. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written English, with the ability to establish and develop positive, constructive and professional relationships across sectors, and with people at all levels. 
  • Have the ability to juggle a range of different tasks, prioritising these and seeing them through to satisfactory resolution.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work under pressure and solve problems.
  • Be a committed team player.
  • You will know what ‘good’ looks like and be single-minded in pursuit of high standards.
  • To have previous experience in a service delivery environment would be advantageous.
