Fentimans Ltd is a privately-owned premium drinks business based in Hexham, Northumberland. They produce a range of botanically brewed soft beverages and mixers that have a reputation for taste and quality and have made great progress in recent years, building a solid position in the UK premium drinks market. In addition to the UK, they have a rapidly growing international business, serving consumers in 75 countries worldwide.

There is now an exciting opportunity for a marketing manager with distributor or wholesale marketing experience, to join their dynamic marketing team, based full-time at their head office in Hexham.

The role

The primary purpose of this new role is to drive business growth by delivering strategies and marketing activity that builds our presence and awareness with our (RTM) route to market customers, both in the UK and international markets.

This will be achieved by:  

  • Leading the marketing agenda with the sales team in relation to how we win with our RTM customers
  • Setting the direction and priorities in order to grow our priority RTM customers
  • Developing channel business growth strategies seeking input from all relevant stakeholders
  • Developing and execute marketing plans that drive awareness and trial within RTM customers
  • Collaborating with and support channel (IH & OOH) marketing objectives
  • Understanding the effectiveness of our sales and marketing investment. Optimise mix to build ROI
  • Ultimately, the success of the RTM role can be defined as selling more to our customers customers

Job description

  • Work with the sales team and RTM customers, with the purpose of developing strategies and annual plans to drive the growth of our RTM customers across all channels (IH and OOH in both the UK + internationally)
  • Segment our RTM customers to focus and win where it matters most
  • Work with IH + OOH marketing channel leads to create aligned plans to win in RTM (the ‘push’ and ‘pull’)
  • Support our RTM customers with strategies and development of marketing plans to grow our joint business
  • Proactively develop marketing activity that demonstrably contributes to building awareness and trial
  • Remove the non-value-add work from our system. Focus on delivering priority initiatives and key projects
  • Work with category to understand the effectiveness of our activity and investment in RTM customers
  • Understand our RTM customer needs to support collaborative growth
  • Be a champion to raise the profile of Fentimans across the RTM channel (in both mixers and softs)
  • Execute the launch of NPD within our priority RTM customers, aligned with channel marketing

Person specification

  • A background in distributor / wholesaler marketing with strong FMCG sector experience
  • Strong leadership capability. Sets the agenda rather than follows one. Ability to provide clear direction 
  • Knowledge and experience of the on-trade, wholesalers and broader OOH channel
  • Good influencer and strong communication skills. Able to influence internally and externally
  • Experience in building and executing a marketing plan (with a time and cost element)
  • Ability to work across functions and manage both internal and external stakeholders
