The Organisation

NE1 was set up April 2009 as the Business Improvement District (BID) delivery company for Newcastle city centre.  It is an Independent, not for profit limited company, that is governed in accord with the BID Act and Board of Directors.

NE1 deliver a range of projects with the overriding objective to ensure that Newcastle realises its status as a modern European regional capital city. Ultimately this means strengthening and building the city’s economy, the common theme behind all their projects, from major capital works, marketing campaigns, major events, to upskilling Newcastle’s young people or welcoming tourists.

NE1 are looking for a Chief Executive to continue to deliver significant investment projects into Newcastle, which are vital for Newcastle’s economic prosperity.



 

The opportunity

It is an exciting time to join NE1 with a healthy platform from which to build. The CEO is a pivotal appointment, core responsibilities will include –

  • Providing direction and leadership on strategy development, ensuring the Board and senior team supports and implements agreed strategies.
  • Acting as the key ambassador for NE1 and leading the development of key external stakeholder relationships.
  • Delivering a successful BID renewal ballot
  • Forging positive relationships with key city partners and levy payers.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of strategic projects vital for the city centre’s future economic prosperity.
  • Ensuring the organisation demonstrates value to levy payers to ensure the organisation’s sustainability.
  • Leading, motivating, and inspiring the team to maintain and develop the organisation’s position as leading, and being at the forefront, of city centre evolution.

The person

NE1 are seeking an experienced leader who has a strong affinity and passion for improving Newcastle City Centre. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following –

  • A hands on, visionary & strategic leader
  • Skilled at stakeholder relationship management
  • A strong and influential communicator 
  • External figurehead
  • Financially literate
  • Ideally you will have worked in an environment that understands how a city centre operates i.e. service, property or cultural sectors
