The Company:

Enterprise scale national business is seeking an IT Support Engineer to help support growing demand. 

The Role:

In this broad based role, the IT Support Engineer will assist with the maintenance and improvement of the WAN, LAN, SAN and VOIP platforms, supporting the delivery of the Infrastructure and Security strategies, ensuring they are delivered on time and in budget. Undertaking 1st and  lin2nde support, you will:

  • Assist with the delivery of a 24/7 Infrastructure in accordance with defined SLA's
  • Support the delivery of an IT Infrastructure which is inline with business's Information Governance and Information Security policies
  • Assist with regular testing of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans and contribute to their ongoing review
  • Support all Service Mobilisations
  • Assist in infrastructure incident management and resolution
  • Review the output reports of the backup system and report any failures to the Infrastructure manager
  • Action any alerts generated by the monitoring systems in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the infrastructure change programme
  • Assist with the transition of IT systems to Hosted environments where required
  • Highlight Infrastructure Risks to the Infrastructure manager for action
  • Abide by all Security policies and procedures
  • Support the IT Service Desk function
  • Contribute to both the Infrastructure and IT Security strategies
  • Contribute to overall IT process design
  • Assist with weekly and monthly analysis reporting
  • Assist with Capacity planning and reporting
  • Proactively seek opportunities from across the organisation to improve the infrastructure
  • Maintain good working relations with all key suppliers
  • Assist with the documentation and change control processes associated with the infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT systems by assisting in the implementation and embedding of IT best practice
  • Maintain positive and effective working relations with all stakeholders
  • Train other members of the team and end users in processes and applications
  • Contribute to regular on-call function

Some limited travel will be required.

The Requirements:

With previous experience of supporting a large scale process driven, IT infrastructure (including networking and telephony), you will possess 1st /2nd  line experience across a broad range of technologies such as:

  • Windows 2012/2016/2019 Server
  • VMware
  • Office 365
  • Telephony administration experience, ideally Mitel
  • Vlan or Wlan MPLS/VPLS
  • Firewalls
  • Active Directory Administration

Experience with working in an ISO27001 and ITIL environment would be beneficial. 

In addition, you will possess:
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to present proposals to internal users
  • The willingness to embrace change and motivate others to do likewise
  • The ability to accurately interpret users’ requirements
