The Client

Our client is a market leading Consumer Products business supplying own label & branded products into the UK grocery multiples, convenience and discounter channels. They are currently looking to appoint a Head of Product Marketing for their European business to be the "guardian" of the product portfolio within a significant category area. Accountable for designing and implementing the portfolio of activities that will ensure margin and turnover targets are achieved, this is a role for a confident and experienced marketer.



 

The Role

The Head of Product Marketing is responsible for all the long-term Product management activities (strategic planning and project portfolio) related to the commercialisation of product offering in the category.

This individual is responsible for the 5 years strategic plan in the category, for the NPD/EPD pipeline definition and the gate keeping of all related activities, and for the local activation and customisation plans to ensure the product portfolio is fit to the market requirements (consumer and customer fit).

He / she is responsible for creating strategic NPDs across all markets and owns the preparation and execution of the robust business plans.

Furthermore the role is the regional Marketing and Customer Expert for the one region, including the local category plan and execution..

 

The Person

The position requires a combination of strategic thinking and pragmatic commercial approach, strong influencing ability (both in the internal interactions – R&D, commercial teams, technical sales, commercial director and leadership team – and external relationships with customers) and strong drive for results and commercial/financial performance.

The position requires a proven skill-set in marketing and strategic planning, the ability operate effectively on an international/multi-cultural basis (with direct reports in multiple locations) and foster consumer and customer orientated thinking in the commercial planning process. He / she requires commercial expertise/exposure to customers and ability to interface strategically with retailers and brand owners organisation.

You will be based within commutable distance of the Manchester office with approxiamately 50% home working available if desired.  There is also European travel required in the course of the role.
