As part of a global investment in technology, Piramal Pharma are looking to appointment a Head of Site IT onto their senior leadership team at their site in Morpeth.  
The Piramal Pharma site in Morpeth is one of two manufacturing sites in the UK and part of the wider Piramal Group with offices in 30 countries and brand presence in over 100 markets. 

Scope and Purpose

Reporting directly into the VP Formulations Operations (NA/UK) and a dotted line into the CTO in Mumbai, this role demands strong leadership, great communication, collaboration and influencing skills.  Candidates must have a track record in delivering significant change from both a people and  technology focus, within a complex multi-site and multi-national regulated business.
The successful appointee will work with both external stakeholders who are typically third-party suppliers covering system implementations, manufacturing and logistics as well as drug regulatory authorities. Internal stakeholders include the site leadership team, wider IT leadership/Pharma IT team, Centre of Excellences through the organisations including SAP teams, PMO functional heads, wider business leaders, site coordinators and QA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluation of IT systems to design and deliver a business IT roadmap that will support and underpin the business roadmap. Prepare and manager IT budget annually.
  • Ensure the success of all business IT projects providing project management for all IT Application and Infrastructure initiatives at the site – ensuring the success of all Business IT projects
  • Bring in an outside-in perspective, share industry trends and best practices from Pharma industries or similar with business stakeholders
  • Ensure that systems, infrastructure, and network uptime is within SLAs with the additional outcome of improving customer satisfaction index for Morpeth over previous year
  • Effective Governance / Tools for the Project / Programme – incorporating best practices like Project Charter by ensuring the tools and framework established for effective project execution are followed
Communication and Collaboration
  • Work with users to define user requirements, functional requirements and technical specifications and obtain business sign-off of requirements
  • Review and analyse system requests to determine complexity and provide resource/cost estimates
  • Translate high level business requirements into functional specifications for the Piramal IT Support Team & manage changes to such specifications
  • Work with business users to review proposed design solutions and determine if solution meets business needs
  • Work in tandem with central in-house IT teams / Centre of Excellence and IT Compliance teams
  • Be the IT Compliance SPOC for the site, and work in tandem with the Central IT Compliance team
  • Working with key stakeholders across the business with effective, regular communication to ensure the relevant functions achieve their core objectives 
  • Excellent leadership skills to manage multi-cultural project teams in a global set-up effectively


Key & Desired Experience

Key Experience

  • Significant experience across project management, client interactions, site visits, vendor management, business analysis, software application roll outs along with testing and support
  • Substantial experience of Pharma Manufacturing or other regulated industry 
  • Knowledge of end-to-end SAP Implementation is mandatory with overall understanding of processes in SD, MM, PP and QM. Knowledge of additional modules would be an added advantage
  • Additional experience in rolling out LIMS and/or MES  
  • Understanding of Quality systems like TRACKWISE, Document Management system required 
  • Thorough understanding of CSV process, CFR Part 11 compliance is a must
  • Strong knowledge and experience in IT project validation along with experience of working at domestic sites
  • Experience of using productivity tools like MS Office suite & MS Project / Others is mandatory
Desired Experience
  • Experience in Waterfall and Agile methodologies would be an advantage 
  • Experience in dual reporting would be desirable
  • Understanding of API business processes and understanding of new age technologies like RPA, Chatbot, IoT
  • Experiencing in data warehousing and reporting systems
  • Expertise in managing multiple work streams (including IT and other cross-functional teams) as part of the project/programme
