The Opportunity:

Nigel Wright Recruitment has been appointed as the retained partner to Harrison Packaging to recruit a Customer Service Manager to join their successful and ambitious management team.  The opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion creating a fantastic opportunity for a talented new hire to join the packaging business.

Established in 1882, Harrison Packaging is the UK's oldest independent carton manufacturer.  Operating from modern, purpose-built facilities, Harrison works with some of the UK's leading brands to offer innovative, sustainable, printed solid board packaging.  The company provides a range of bespoke solutions across a diverse range of market sectors including food, confectionery, beauty, household and healthcare and has continuously invested in capital equipment, its market offer and its team to remain at the cutting edge of the sector.

They are looking for an exceptional customer service manager who can motivate and lead the Customer Service Team effectively and be instrumental in driving business success and growth in the coming years.

Role Profile:

  • Reporting into the Business Development Director and managing the team of experienced customer service representatives.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team to ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained with all customers.
  • Developing close and effective relationships with both the account management and business development functions.
  • Leading by example and maintaining personal relationships with key customers as appropriate and handling any customer escalations swiftly and to the highest standards.
  • Managing commercial arrangements with new and existing customers and ensuring all agreements are documented appropriately.
  • Performance managing the customer service team, setting KPIs and holding individuals to account for their personal performance.  Agreeing and supporting the team towards achieving their objectives in their personal development plans.
  • As a member of the Company Management Team, being approachable and interacting with all staff throughout the organisation and ensuring that the company standards are maintained across the business.
  • Communicating, practicing and promoting the values, ethics and culture of Harrison Packaging at all times.

Person Specification:

  • A background in customer service management within a B2B industrial environment is essential.
  • Sector experience within the packaging or print sectors is preferable.
  • A track record of effectively performance managing a customer service team.
  • Strong IT skills with competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (or similar) and the ability to work with and pick up new CRM / in house company IT systems swiftly.
  • A natural coaching style.
  • The ability to manage up line and cross functional relationship effectively and diplomatically.
