Nigel Wright are partnering with Valeo Confectionary to recruit a Factory Manager for their site in Liverpool. From retro classics to the latest flavours, Valeo Confectionary is home to many of the UK’s favourite sweets. Their famous brands include Sherbet Fountain, Dip Dab, Black Jack and Fruit Salad, Flumps, Refreshers, Princess Marshmallows, Taveners Proper Sweets, Lion hard gums and many, many more. With hundreds of years of heritage and five busy factories, they work tirelessly around the clock to deliver the very best confectionery with a combination of both traditional manufacturing methods and state of the art operations.
Valeo Confectionary have strong relationships with the UK’s largest retailers, providing both branded and own label products. They operate across a number of different retail channels including grocery, wholesalers and cash & carry, discounter, forecourts and the broad reaching independent channel.
They have a strong presence internationally and an even bigger desire to grow exponentially across the globe, and currently trade in key markets including Australia, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. As an international branded and retailer own brand business, Valeo have plans to grow across many product sectors, markets and channels.
The site in Liverpool employs c150 people and is the orginal site for Barratt's "Shrimps" & "Bananas", Taverners caramels and Princess Marshmallows. Liverpool has expanded their business to manufacture own label products on behalf of a number of retailers.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, this is a broad leadership role for the manufacturing plant with clear responsibilities for maximising performance for the site. You will take ownership for production, engineering, planning, health & safety & quality and continue to develop a collaborative and focussed culture on site to deliver consistent performance.
The Factory Manager will also develop and manage the strategies, plans and budgets as agreed with the Head of Operations to achieve the organisational, plant and financial objectives of the company.
This position plays an integral part in plant operations, with responsibility for developing an environment of continuous improvement and success, whilst leading, managing, coaching, motivating and inspiring employees. The team have a wealth of experience and are incredibly proud of what they do. They have desire to learn new ways and methodologies, whilst being able to offer ideas and suggestions, and this naturally compliments the ongoing development of the site.
As an experienced Operations/Plant Manager, you will have extensive experience providing effective leadership and direction to maximise performance in high volume batch food or wider FMCG manufacturing plant. With previous experience of managing multiple disciplines, you will have a successful track record in driving an effective continuous improvement strategy through a site to increase output. Customer focussed, you will ideally have has experience in on site retailer audits. With well developed communication skills, you will be able to give confidence to the Board and customers but also demonstrate a passion for manufacturing to work at all levels within the plant.
