The Company

National service provider is looking to recruit an Infrastructure Manager.

The Role

You will have key responsibility for the management and improvement of the whole infrastructure including, servers, storage, networking and telecoms. Managing the Infrastructure Team you will be responsible for developing and delivering Infrastructure and Security strategies that are cost effective and meet the business requirements working closely with the Service Delivery manager to resolve ongoing complex problems. In this broad role, you will also be hands on undertaking 3rd line technical support. Specifically you will:

  • Manage and maintain the infrastructure 24/7 within budget and in accordance with defined SLAs
  • Infrastructure capacity planning and reporting
  • Lead the effective planning and implementation of all changes to the infrastructure
  • Technical lead on all Service Mobilisations
  • Oversee infrastructure incident management
  • Lead the Infrastructure Change programme
  • Perform all appraisals and objective settings with infrastructure engineers
  • Perform regular 1-2-1’s with infrastructure engineers 
  • Ensure systems are effectively backed up and the backups are regularly tested
  • Ensure the infrastructure complies with and is in accordance with the company's Information Governance and Information Security policies
  • Contribute to the overall production and testing of the Business continuity and Disaster recovery plans
  • Produce Policies and procedures in regard to IT Infrastructure and IT Security systems
  • Ensure effective system monitoring is in place and alerts are actioned in a timely manner
  • Provide weekly and monthly analysis reporting
  • Contribute to the identification, management, and resolution of Digital risks and act as a part of the digital risk management team
  • Ensure all security policies and procedures are enforced and breaches are reported
  • Proactively seek opportunities from across the organisation to improve the infrastructure
  • Manage all key infrastructure supplier relationship, including defining scope of projects, ensuring compliance with SLAs 
  • Ensure availability of business critical elements of the infrastructure in line with agreed SLAs
  • Be responsible for maintaining documentation and change control processes associated with the infrastructure to a high and consistent standard
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT systems by assisting in the implementation and embedding of IT Best practice using tools such as ITIL and ISO 27001. 
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with all stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain effective training plans for Infrastructure engineers
  • Contribute to regular on-call function

The Requirements

Having previously managed or played a significant role within a large scale IT infrastructure (including networking and telephony), you will have operated an infrastructure delivering 24/7 availability of infrastructure uptime. Being used to being hands on in providing 3rd line support, you will be technically strong across a broad range of technologies notably networking, telephony (VOIP), VMware, storage, AD, Exchange, as well as servers. In addition you will have experience in:

  • Working with ISO standards e.g. ISO9001, ISO27001 etc
  • Supplier management
  • Managing complex software licencing arrangements 
  • ITIL 
  • Firewalls

Though previous line management experience will be beneficial, applications are also sought from experienced senior infrastructure engineers looking to take the next step in their career.
