An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join as Category Development & Insight Manager to execute & deliver our Category Management / Trade Marketing strategies & objectives.

The Role

  • To set up an ambitious Category strategy in conjunction with the Country Manager with an emphasis on growth.
  • To deliver our Category & Trade Marketing objectives within the UK retailer base and lead implementation to do what is necessary to achieve the goal. 
  • To be customer facing and convey plans in an engaging way to the main key accounts and important white spots.
  • In cooperation with the Country Manager and HQ feed into the planning of the communication and promotion campaigns for the UK.
  • To evolve into an ‘expert’ in these categories – to fully understand the dynamics of these categories and to work closely with the UK team, HQ and the retailer base to maximise HG & retailer business returns.
  • To fully utilise market, account and shopper data & retailer data sources to shape business thinking on commercial and trade sector planning.
  • To work closely with Sales & Marketing to create account specific selling stories with retailer value adding insight and initiatives to ensure our success at range reviews.
  • To own the NPD launch process (category-led argumentation & in-store launch plan) & deliver via the sales team against NPD launch targets.
  • To evaluate promotional activity & make recommendations on future promotional planning and the most effective use of investment.
  • To lead & champion shelf excellence projects & deliver against internal objectives.
  • To advise on the strategic direction for ‘in-store’ and comment on ‘digital’ trade & customer marketing activities

Key Competencies

  • Fully conversant with the latest principles in Category Management.
  • Analytical and skilled in the effective use of Dunnhumby (essential), IRI/Nielsen/Kantar data, retailer EPOS; and forming into clear action plans to drive growth.
  • An understanding of Trade Marketing; experience in trade marketing an advantage.
  • Knowledge of National Account Management and/or Brand Management would be advantageous.
  • Degree educated with at least 5 years’ experience in a Category Management position in a CPG/FMCG environment.
  • Requires strong strategic planning skills and the ability to develop thought out plans.
