The Opportunity:

Nigel Wright Recruitment has been appointed as the retained partner of Direct Voice and Data (DVAD) to support their recruitment of a Sales Director to drive the organisation’s commercial growth strategy.  Headquartered in Huddersfield, DVAD specialises in the delivery of tailored telecoms and IT solutions to a wide range of large and small organisations in both the public and private sectors. 

They are experts in designing, delivering and supporting market leading communications solutions for businesses.  DVAD support and maintain in excess of 1,000 business customers, predominantly in the North of England and the organisation has doubled in size since completing the acquisition of a competitor in 2018. 

With plans for significant further growth DVAD are now seeking to appoint a dynamic and driven Sales Director to lead the sales and marketing function and to operate at a strategic level as part of the Senior Management Team of the organisation.

The Role:

  • Working closely with the CEO to lead and drive the strategic commercial direction of the company.
  • Developing, implementing and executing the company sales and marketing strategy.
  • Operating as a member of the Senior Management Team and building and maintaining effective relationships with all functional heads.
  • Being fundamental to determining, facilitating and driving the growth plans of the organisation in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the existing sales team of nine, with signoff to recruit two additional heads upon commencement in the role.
  • Driving and effectively managing KPI performance.
  • Growing the Sales Team to achieve the company’s growth aspirations.
  • Agreeing the annual sales target with the CEO and working towards exceeding this to achieve year on year profitable growth.
  • Driving the team to maximise revenue streams through the existing client base and capitalising on opportunities for account growth.
  • Developing and driving the telesales team to consistently deliver a pipeline of new sales opportunities.
  • Up-selling and cross-selling consistently and coaching the team to do the same.
  • Building relationships with and being approachable to staff across all functions of the business.
  • Driving the sales function to identify and convert new business opportunities with new B2B clients.

Person Specification:

  • Previous sales leadership experience in either the telecoms or IT solutions sectors.
  • Experience of managing both internal and external sales teams.
  • A track record of leading teams to exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Experience of holding P + L accountability.
  • Experience of driving sales to deliver year on year organisational growth.
  • A natural coaching approach to developing staff.
  • Experience of developing existing accounts as well as driving new business generation.
  • Knowledge of telephone systems would be beneficial, but is not essential.
