With over 1000 staff and a turnover of c£30m the Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities. We have been supporting disabled people and their families for over 60 years. Our size enables us to provide a wide range of services to over 1000 families each year.
The Percy Hedley Foundation has been growing steadily and is now seeking to maintain growth and development whilst continuing to offer high quality, safe client focused services in a constantly changing environment. The Chief Operating Officer will have responsibility for driving continuous improvement by monitoring and overseeing the quality and performance of all operational services across the Foundation.
We are looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join the Executive team and help lead our organisation in this next phase of growth and development. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will have responsibility for leading the development of the corporate strategy underpinned by 3-5-year service business plans and annual operational plans. You will ensure that resources are allocated to priorities, monitoring performance, managing risks, and appropriate ways of working, processes, and productivity tools are in place to help us deliver our ambitious goals. As people are key to our organisation and delivery of our services the post holder will have executive level responsibility for the oversight of the Human Resources function and will work with the CEO and Head of OD on the implementation of Foundation’s People Strategy.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer will be a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process minded leader with experience scaling an organisation, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals. The Chief Operating Officer must be a leader who will embed quality in all our services and help Directors and heads of service deliver measurable, cost-effective results that will make our vision a reality.
You must have the proven ability to build, lead, develop and motivate successful teams and have a demonstrable track record of working at a senior level in an organisation delivering change management and systems/process improvement. You will also demonstrate a clear understanding of risk-based principles of leading and managing an organisation. Strong communication and influencing skills are critical, as well as the ability to manage projects and multi-faceted internal and external stakeholder relationships.
The successful candidate will have proven senior leadership skills at or near Board level and will be commercially astute. The ability to challenge constructively, exercise balanced judgement and uphold high standards of integrity is essential.
