In line with the Port’s vision to double the size of the business by 2022, they are looking to further strengthen their Business development team by appointing an additional Commercial Director who will play an important part of the future financial growth of the Port of Tyne.   The role will be required to   deliver the commercial plan across the Automotive, Offshore, and Cruise & Ferries business areas  
 

The Role

Overall Objective
The role will take responsibility for the development of new business for the port through expansion of existing customer relationships and establishing new customer relationships.

Key responsibilities:

  • Achieve the budgeted PBT for areas of responsibility on an annual basis.
  • Ensure commercial activities support the strategic vision and values
  • Identify & secure business opportunities appropriate to current and future port capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with all business areas to identify cross selling opportunities
  • Provide monthly departmental forecasting tools
  • Ensure strong customer relations are maintained
  • Build strong internal stakeholder relationships
  • Enhance the profile of the Port in Key Business sectors including conferences and networking

The Person

  • Experience of working in a sales role in the Automotive, Offshore or Cruise & Ferries sectors is essential
  • Ability to operate and influence at C-Level
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience of managing commercial contracts
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across all departments for successful commercial outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience of selling on ‘value’ rather than cost
  • Solution selling ability
