The role;

To support the changing needs of the business and future growth plans, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced customer focused ‘Stand Alone’ HR Manager to join the SPS team in Consett. The HR Manager role will be a key hire, providing a day to day support to the highly skilled workforce and driving high performance standards.  The ideal candidate will have a ‘hands on’ and practical approach with regards to delivering the HR service and will utilise new technology to drive best practice.

The role will have a dual reporting line into the Authentix VP of HR in the US and the SPS Operations Director in Consett.
Key elements of the role include;

  • Working as a trusted advisor to the leadership team at Consett, working as a commercial business partner.
  • Managing any day to day operational issues including ER, absence and capability.
  • Responsibility for all day to day administration.
  • Ability to act and think strategically whilst working in a busy operational role.
  • Attract, retain and develop the highly skilled workforce, ensuring career plans are in place to support future development.
  • Identify and develop learning and development initiatives, delivering training where required.
  • Supporting the 6 monthly Performance Review Process, coaching managers where necessary.
  • Developing new systems and technologies.
  • Effectively manage change across the business.
  • Oversee reward and benefits including any changes to shift rates and salary discussions.
  • Implementation of a new HRIS which will provide greater insight into employee data.
  • Supporting Authentix employees in York and Europe where required.
  • Providing management information and data to Authentix as required and supporting Group project work.
  • Keeping abreast of changes to employment law and regulations, providing regular updates to the US on any regulatory changes.

The person;

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the following experience;

  • an experienced HR professional who has broad experience of all generalist HR elements including recruitment, learning and development, employee relations etc.
  • as it is a small site, you will have the ability and desire to take on additional responsibility outside of their traditional HR remit.
  • manufacturing / print experience would be preferred, however we will also consider high calibre candidates who are able to demonstrate the right qualities and experience.
  • excellent, up to date knowledge of UK employment law and be the expert in the UK. 
  • personable and down to earth, you will need to integrate into the management team in Consett and communicate effectively with the stakeholders in the US.
  • ability to challenge the leadership team at Consett and bring about new ways of working.
  • ability to work in a ‘stand alone’ HR role where you are responsible for the entire function from HR administration through to HR strategy.
