The Company

The Port of Tyne has partnered with Nigel Wright Recruitment to appoint a Head of Estates.
 

The Key tasks in the role lie across business development and estate management. Whilst developing a clear plan and maximising returns and yields from the Port’s property and land portfolio the person will ensure timely billing and payment by tenants in a relationship building way. A key task will be to work with the both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Port’s property is appropriately maintained.

The Head of Estates will negotiate occupational agreements, rent reviews, lease renewals, rateable values, acquisitions and disposals in conjunction with any associated commercial contracts.

The role will provide recommendations regarding the development of the Port’s land and property portfolio whilst evaluating planned and preventative maintenance for the Port’s property portfolio.

The Head of Estates will provide business cases for investment in property, with associated return analysis and facilitate acquisition and divestment opportunities for the Port.  Working with other key business units, creating a Sales & Marketing plan for the Estates function, manage and complete the annual Investment Portfolio Valuation with finance and work with legal to ensure appropriate lease documentation is in place and signed.

Lead, develop and maintain Estates management systems for both land and marine based activities, including the population, training and implementation of an Estates IT system (Propman).
 

The Person

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Extensive experience of delivering results in a commercial and customer focused environment
  • Commercial property experience and ideally property law
  • Membership of a relevant professional body
  • Strong Project Management and stakeholder engagement
  • Well versed in negotiation and influencing with staff at all levels, managers and customers
  • Acts with integrity and in line with the Port’s values whilst able to challenge the status quo, encourage innovation and drive continuous
