The Role

Nigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a well-renowned business in Darlington with their search for a Pensions Administrator.

Role:
As a Pensions Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of pension schemes, with a focus on Defined Contribution (DC) pensions.

Duties:

  • Managing the administration of Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes.
  • Processing new joiners, leavers, retirements, and deaths within the scheme.
  • Ensuring accurate calculation and processing of pension contributions, transfers, and benefits.
  • Handling member opt-ins, opt-outs, and automatic re-enrolment in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Updating and maintaining pension records and databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ensuring all pension processes comply with relevant legislation, such as The Pensions Regulator (TPR) guidelines.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in pension laws and regulations.
  • Assisting in audits, reporting, and compliance checks as required
  • Responding to pension-related queries from scheme members and employers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Providing clear and accurate information on pension entitlements, transfers, and scheme rules.
  • Liaising with payroll and HR teams to ensure smooth contribution processing.
  • Supporting the implementation of process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assisting in system updates, testing, and data reconciliation.
  • Contributing to team projects and initiatives to enhance pension administration services.
  • Building on existing pension knowledge through company-supported training and qualifications.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices in pension administration.

The Person


Skills/Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes.
  • Knowledge of pension regulations (e.g., The Pensions Regulator, HMRC rules).
  • Experience with pension administration systems and databases.
  • Ability to perform accurate pension calculations and process contributions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret pension scheme rules and apply them correctly.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills for reconciling pension data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex pension concepts in a clear and professional manner.
  • Strong customer service skills, handling queries from members and employers with patience and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong prioritisation skills to handle urgent pension requests efficiently.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and eager to learn, with a commitment to professional development.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive pension data.
