The Role

This company needs a hands-on, solutions-driven Operations Manager with extensive experience in third-party logistics (3PL), freight management, customs processes, and bonded warehousing. This high-impact role is the critical link between internal departments, external partners, and  customers, ensuring a smooth and timely flow of products throughout the supply chain.

This person will also be responsible for overseeing production, optimising logistics, and driving continuous improvement across all operations. An ability to navigate complex logistics challenges, streamline processes, and lead cross-functional collaboration will be key to their global growth.

Specifically, the role will be to manage the entire order cycle, which includes the following key areas:

1.    Work closely with Merchandising to consolidate demand, ensuring we buy the right product in the correct quantity to fulfil demand while minimising cash flow utilisation.

2.    Overseeing inbound logistics to the Distribution Centre (DC), expediting goods where necessary.

3.    Efficiently planning the workflow at the DC to align with the arrival of goods and customer demand to maximise throughput.

4.    Monitoring network distribution to ensure that any non-compliant shipments are resolved promptly.

5.    Collaborating closely with the commercial department to synchronise seasonal Initial Delivery Dates (IDD) and replenishment with customer demand and monthly financial targets.

6.    Optimising inventory levels in accordance with financial objectives while fulfilling customer orders. Pre-emptive run analysis on obsolesce products. Actively engaging with sales to ensure their disposal.

 

What you will do

Lead & Build:
Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Establish robust processes for managing 3PL providers, freight forwarders, and bonded warehouse operations.
Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with logistics and shipping partners.

Optimise Logistics & Supply Chain:
Follow on Purchase order cycle 
Oversee end-to-end logistics, including freight coordination, customs clearance, and bonded warehousing.
Identify and implement solutions to improve delivery times, reduce costs, and streamline operations.
Leverage technology and data analytics to monitor and enhance supply chain performance.

Collaborate Across Teams:
Act as the key operations liaison between Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product Development, and Customer Service.
Ensure operational alignment with company goals and customer expectations.
Provide regular updates and insights to department heads and senior stakeholders.

Problem Solve & Innovate:
Proactively address supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on sustainability and operational excellence.
Stay informed on industry best practices, compliance regulations, and technological advancements.

Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, customs, and trade regulations.
Develop risk mitigation strategies for operational vulnerabilities.

What You Bring

Proven experience in a senior operations or supply chain role, preferably in clothing, apparel, or manufacturing industries.
A methodical approach to tasks, keeping the end goal in sight while ensuring projects are cost-effective.
Ability to utilise S&OP skills to balance demand and supply, enhancing operational efficiency.
Extensive knowledge of 3PL management, international freight, customs compliance, and bonded warehousing.
Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Proficiency in data analysis and the use of IMS systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Excel tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organisation. 
Aptitude to leverage IT tools to enhance internal communication and keep the team informed in real time.
A proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
