The Role

Nigel Wright are delighted to support a North East Leading Charity with their search for a Gambling Engagement Practitioner.

Role Responsibilities

Facilitate referrals and provide advice, guidance, assessments, brief and structured interventions, as well as group programmes to individuals experiencing gambling-related difficulties.
Offer advice and support to colleagues working with individuals affected by gambling behaviour, enhancing their understanding and approach.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, promote the service’s mission, and recruit community partners to expand outreach efforts.
Develop and support a network of Community Champions to raise awareness and address gambling-related harm within local communities.

The Person

Skills/Attributes:

Knowledge:

Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion values.
Understanding of gambling-related issues and interventions.
Familiarity with community services in the North East.
Knowledge of safeguarding best practices, confidentiality, and data protection.

Skills:

Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with key organisations and stakeholders.
Competent in IT, including MS Office, online platforms (Teams, Zoom), and maintaining accurate records.
Effective use of Motivational Interviewing and solution-focused approaches, with willingness to train in CBT techniques.
Adaptable to various service delivery settings across the North East.
