Front End Web Developer (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)

The Company

With sites across the whole of the UK and many years of successful trading our client have established themselves as a market leader in their sector. Their growth is underpinned by a strong IT strategy which is being delivered by an excellent in house team and we're now searching for a skilled Frontend Developer with experience in HTML, CSS and Javascript to join them. 

The Role

The role will join a specialist front end team working on the development and support of a number of customer focussed websites. With strong HTML/CSS skills and an excellent knowledge of Javascript you will support on projects building scalable functionality, following a modular approach, onto websites and intranet systems. Working closely with a wider technical team your role will include writing up requirements, producing specifications and wireframes as well as full design and development of solutions. 

Projects delivered by the front-end team are vital to ensure the ongoing success of the business, as an initial point of customer interaction they have a direct impact on the sales pipeline and therefore revenue generated. This has not gone unnoticed and the IT team are held in high regard with continued investment planned.

The Person

We are looking for candidate who have:

  • Minimum of 2 years of frontend development experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript/ES6.
  • Strong understanding of React or Angular, with experience using Redux/RxJS.
  • Proficiency in Git/GitHub for version control.
  • Knowledge of mobile and responsive web design principles.
  • Experience working with both third-party and internal APIs.
  • Proficiency in using Chrome Developer Console for debugging.
  • Understanding of agile/scrum frameworks.
  • Experience with pair programming and conducting code reviews.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions.
  • Experience with unit and end-to-end testing tools like Jest or Playwright.
This is a permanent role and will come with salary of up to £45,000. The client is not able to sponsor and is looking for candidates with a right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
The role will be based out of their offices in Gateshead however will offer a hybrid working arrangement.
