Chemical Process Engineer

Our client

We are delighted to be working with a chemical processing site in Teesside to recruit a Process Engineer. They are in a period of significant long term investment and are adding to their Engineering team to support this. 

The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Projects, responsibilities include:

  • Work in accordance with all EHS requirements, policies and principles.
  • Support FEED studies, including the preparation of relevant process engineering documentation.
  • Plan and manage the installation & commissioning of new or modified plant. 
  • Lead the initial conceptual phase of capital projects in the development of strategies for expanding and providing capacity to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Participate in major capital project teams and support the process engineering input to these projects to ensure that development, design, and data provision activities are completed to meet agreed targets of scope, cost and time.
  • Lead/participate in HAZOPs and Design review studies, quantified risk assessments etc. Arrange process safety reviews (HSE reviews and HAZOPs, LOPAs etc.) and ensure that the resulting recommendations are implemented. 
  • Take a key role in process improvement activities and support manufacturing troubleshooting & optimisation.
  • Establish and lead a process safety management system on site to improve standards and ensure compliance with the requirements of the competent authorities.

About you

You will be a degree qualified Chemical Engineer with significant experience in a practical site based Process Engineer role. 

The following skills are also desirable:

  • A good knowledge of key regulations (e.g. DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is preferable
  • Ability to lead problem-solving teams both cross-functional and within Production/Engineering functions
  • Experience of projects, including EPC contracts
  • Clear, articulate and confident communicator with an engaging and influential approach
  • Capable of working to deadlines and milestones with a minimum of supervision
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
