Accounts Assistant

The Company:

Excited to be working on a fantastic all-encompassing Accounts Assistant role for my client in Newcastle.  A family grown organisation with an amazing set of values, an enriched environment to work in and a clear vision for continuous growth and expansion for the business and employees.   The role offers 35 hours per week with a hybrid model of Mondays and Fridays working from home.

The Role:

The Accounts Assistant will manage all aspects of purchase ledger and expense processing for the business as well as assist the team with other ad hoc finance duties. Excel skills being a daily tool used so strong user experience is needed here.

Key Accountabilities

  • Purchase invoice processing and issue resolution
  • Expense processing and issue resolution
  • Complete supplier statement reconciliations and resolve any resulting queries and discrepancies
  • P2P System Management, maximizing the functionality from the P2P system
  • Prepare and maintain a month end accrual schedule
  • Adhere to policies ensuring changes to supplier accounts are independently validated before processing
  • Keep up-to-date with fraud awareness training
  • Have an awareness of different VAT rates ensuring the correct rates are selected
  • Prepare month end payment runs, and mid-month payment runs (in peak periods), as well as a monthly expenses payment and other ad hoc payments upon request
  • Deal with supplier queries promptly and accurately
  • Manage the creditors ledger so it is up to date and as tidy as possible
  • Ensure adherence to company Procurement Policy
  • Responsible for Petty Cash requests and any corresponding reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit

 

The Person:

  • We are looking for someone with the right attitude to fit into a great team in this organisation.
  • Happy to consider someone who has covered a range of transactional and finance support duties in a busy finance team OR our client will consider 'early in their career' candidates who are looking for some help to develop into Finance
  • Please note: Strong Excel skills are very important for this role
  • Happy to work a hybrid model of 2 days home / 3 days office per week
