The Organisation
Abbeyfield Northumbria are part of Abbeyfield England, a membership Society in the UK, who were founded in 1967 to provide care and accommodation for older people across the UK.
Abbeyfield Northumbria were formed in 2023, after the merger of four Abbeyfield member societies and have been providing an enriched, caring and positive environment for residents for over 50 years. As a non-profit organisation, Abbeyfield Northumbria are proud that they have continued to provide happiness through the communities they create and that loneliness need not be an inevitable feature of old age.
They currently manage two supported living homes and three residential care homes. Homes are available for long term and short term respite care.
The Opportunities
The board of trustees work closely with the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership team at each property to ensure the organisation continues to improve services, invest in current properties and develop a future and relevant offering.
Future board trustees need to be experienced leaders who are committed to improving the lives of older people.
We are looking for specific experience in Finance, Property & Development, Governance or Legal knowledge and HR.
However, commitment and willingness to be an advocate for older people is at the heart of our employees and board trustees and we would be interested to hear from leaders who have complimentary skills too.
