Following Nigel Wright’s expansion into Yorkshire with a new office in Leeds, our Regional Director Sarah Simpson shares why she chose Nigel Wright, what she enjoys most about working for us, her work life balance with Nigel Wright, and much more.
This year marks my 22nd year in recruitment. Before this, I had a career as a Credit Manager. I have worked across discipline, starting in Finance, Temporary, Permanent – both contingent and retained, Search and Interim. I have also worked across sector with a great deal of my experience being in Consumer.
This answer is the easiest – it was the people, the values they set and the drive they have to provide the best results for their clients, candidates, colleagues and community. We launched the Leeds office in April this year and we have launched a professional interim proposition across the UK and Ireland. This challenge was exciting and there are so many more exciting things to come.
In a word, no! It’s been much better than I anticipated. I was conscious that whenever a business says they are collaborative and live their values, it’s not always necessarily the case. With Nigel Wright it is at the heart of everything. We are one team, and everyone is prepared to help. There are no egos and no politics, which anyone in recruitment will know is hard to come by!
I am married to Andy, and we have a blended family of 2 boys and 2 girls, 3 dogs and we are in the process of adopting. So, all my free time goes on them. As a family, we all enjoy a trip to the odd comic con (we have a large amount of memorabilia, I know geek central!). We like the zoo, eating out, travelling – any time away from the cooking and the cleaning gets my vote!
I’ve been lucky enough to have a good work life balance since my son was born almost 12 years ago but Nigel Wright embraces this very important factor. Our leadership team fully appreciates the importance of family, mental health and general wellbeing of every member of staff. We promote flexible working, flexible benefits and sabbaticals for everyone after a 5 year service. And again, they don’t just say they do – they actually do.
