In order to portray a real representation of the culture here at Nigel Wright, we asked some of our Recruitment Consultants to answer a series of questions about their careers and about working at Nigel Wright. Our IT Senior Recruitment Consultant Megan Johnson shares why she decided to join Nigel Wright, her advice for anyone considering a job in recruitment as well as how Nigel Wright helped her in her career development since joining 18 months ago.
How did you first learn about Nigel Wright? Why did you join? How has the company changed?
I first experienced Nigel Wright as a candidate back in June 2018 when I was searching for a new role within Sales / Business Development. I came along as a candidate to meet one of the sales and marketing consultants to discuss my career aspirations and how they could help with my job search. I was then asked if I had considered a career in recruitment and offered me the chance to find out more about working for Nigel Wright.
I was invited in to spend time with various consultants and managers in the business. After an intensive couple of weeks, I learned that recruitment was exactly the kind of consultative sales role I had been searching for. I had heard good recommendations from friends and family members who previously worked with Nigel Wright and I was excited to work with some of the big brands and leading organisations referenced as clients. Ultimately, I was reassured by the fantastic ongoing training and development I would receive. 18 months later, I can look back at what I have achieved, and it has been the best decision for my career.
What advice would you give someone with an industry background who wanted a job in recruitment?
What I have learned from my fantastic colleagues at Nigel Wright is that successful recruitment consultants come from different industries and backgrounds. Recruitment is a difficult and competitive career but very rewarding if you have the hard work and determination to succeed. Be prepared to challenge yourself and be willing to throw yourself into it, you never stop learning!
How has Nigel Wright helped you in your career development?
Since joining 18 months ago, I have surprised myself by how much I have learned about myself and my career aspirations. From day one I have received fantastic regular training from the experienced management team at Nigel Wright. In the short time I have been here I have been promoted to Senior Consultant and given the fantastic opportunity to build my own team which has come from a lot of hard work and the support of my manager. I am always encouraged to keep improving and trying new things and I look forward to seeing how much I can continue to develop my career here.
