Jennifer's Blog - Life as a Recruitment Consultant at Nigel Wright


In order to portray a real representation of the culture here at Nigel Wright, we asked some of our Recruitment Consultants to answer a series of questions about their careers and about working at Nigel Wright. Our Finance Managing Recruitment Consultant Jennifer Rankin shares why she decided to join Nigel Wright, her favourite recruitment projects to date and two of her proudest moments whilst working at Nigel Wright. 

How did you first learn about Nigel Wright? Why did you join? How has the company changed?

I have worked in finance recruitment for the past 12 years and Nigel Wright were one of my competitors in the marketplace. Nigel Wright approached me in supporting them with the opening of the Wynyard office and to manage our temporary and permanent transactional level recruitment in Teesside. This was an exciting opportunity, given I previously worked for a PLC that had grown to their full potential and Nigel Wright were offering me the opportunity to be part of a growing business in the Teesside area! I haven’t looked back and have loved every minute. We have grown during my time here and with growth comes change, however I love the fact that we still work in line with our values and we are constantly developing our people and ourselves!

What has been your favourite recruitment project at Nigel Wright?

I have two favourite recruitment projects – The Priory Group and Nobia. What I love about this job is the people we get the opportunity to work with. During both these projects, I developed long lasting and transparent relationships and although there was pressure to deliver (I do like pressure though!), the people I worked in partnership with, made the projects interesting and a pleasure to complete.

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Nigel Wright?

Can I have two?

Being promoted to Managing Consultant and getting the opportunity to develop a team of Consultants and grow a business year on year. 

Achieving High Flyers. After finding 21 people new jobs in one quarter I was rewarded with a trip to Copenhagen with others across the business. I saw Hans Christian Anderson’s “Little Mermaid” during a boat trip along the river and enjoyed some lovely food and wine. It was fantastic to be rewarded in such an amazing way for my best quarter!
