Nordic Retail & Category Manager

Nordic Licensing Company (NLC) is experiencing a strong growth and is therefore looking for a new colleague to join their Nordic team based out of Copenhagen. 
NLC is representing a select group of top global licensors from the entertainment and sports industry in the Nordics and Benelux. The key focus is to develop and grow NLCs partners' brands to new heights through local, regional and global partners, drive retail and marketing activations and a passion for being the best in the industry. You will be working with a wide range of brands e.g. Harry Potter, Batman, Wonder Woman, Friends, Barbie, Subway Surfers, Tour de France and FC Barcelona just to mention a few.

The candidate should have retail marketing / retail buying and/or category management experience. It is an advantage, not necessity, if the candidate has experience from the toy industry, as this will be the primary category for the position.  

You will as Nordic Retail & Category Manager at NLC develop strategic retail and category plans in close cooperation with your manager. Your key focus areas will be servicing regional and local licensees, local distributors and importantly identifying retail campaign opportunities and pitch these to the key retail players in the Nordics. 

Retail Management responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and pitch innovative retail partnerships and campaigns which add significant value at a commercial and strategic level for brand-owners, licensees, distributors, retailers and NLC. 
  • Secure listings and space for our licensee’s product ranges at retail by working with a variety of international stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver innovative brand and business opportunities to the Nordic retailers. 

Category Management responsibilities:
  • Business development with licensees including pitching, contract negotiations and development of new product ranges/promotions. 
  • Securing that local distributors list and support regional/global licensee’s product ranges. 
  • You are expected to know how to create a business plan as well as building and managing an ambitious budget.

Required profile:

You need to be outgoing, have a strong network in the Nordic retail sector, sales experience and not afraid to reach out to new potential partners. 

At NLC they work with different people across cultures, companies and nationalities, therefore the role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. You have good presentation skills and feel comfortable presenting in front of an audience. You are fluent in one of the Nordic languages and English in both writing and oral.

Experienced user of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 

In addition, you have a creative mindset and are curious by nature. You can stay focused and motivated in a fast-changing working environment, which at times requires endurance and a “can-do” attitude. 

We expect that you have +3 years working experience and a bachelor or masters within business administration. 

You will be based in our Nordic office in Copenhagen and 20-30 travelling days must be expected.
