Commodity Analyst (gn)

The scope:

On behalf of our client, an international leader in the FMCG industry, we are searching for a Commodity Analyst with an interest in data and commodities to support and drive the purchasing team. Our client is a privately owned company that is one of the top players in the industry and is growing steadily, but at the same time sets great value on sustainability.

This key position in the procurement team is accompanied by close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders. The Commodity Analyst is responsible for providing key insights to the commodity category managers. He/she will provide fundamental and technical data and trends in the commodity markets for food production and influence key purchasing decisions.
The Commodity Analyst reports directly to the Head of Commodities and will ideally be based in Düsseldorf.
 

Responsibilities:

• Provide relevant and accurate market analysis and commodity reports to internal stakeholders on a regular and ad hoc basis.
• Influencing buying decisions through recommendations based on personal, insightful reports, acting as a sparring partner for category management.
• Monitoring and highlighting trends in the macroeconomic environment.
• Collect, analyse and review local and global commodity and market data.
• Establish trend analysis procedures and processes within the organisation.
• Develop and improve standard full cost models for commodities.
• Assist in the preparation of purchasing/pricing strategies with the Head of Commodities.

Profile:

• Degree in agricultural sciences, finance, economics or equivalent.
• Work experience in a similar field.
• Experience working with big data.
• Assertive, persuasive and with a commercial and competitive mindset.
• Analytical skills with a strong sense of curiosity
• Strong networking skills
