Company Description

Medela, based in the canton of Zug / Switzerland, was founded by Olle Larsson in 1961. Today, the company is managed by his son Michael Larsson. Medela has two divisions, "Human Milk", with globally recognized basic research and a leader in the development and manufacture of breastfeeding products and total solutions, and "Healthcare", specialising in the development and manufacture of high-quality medical vacuum technology solutions. As part of a backfill, they are now looking for an HR Business Partner for the Central Cluster.
This role will be the Business Partner for the defined Cluster or/and Marketing function by delivering high quality HR Service and expertise.
Together with the regional and global HR Team the role will further develop and manage strategical HR initiatives and processes to achieve the business goals of the Cluster or/and Function in scope. In the country, the HRBP is based, the role also includes the overall responsibility of HR activities in line with all local regulations connected to an HR function.



  • Serve as an HR consultant and sparring partner to the leadership teams in the Cluster Countries or/and to the functional leadership team
  • Proactively identifying and analysing HR needs, accordingly with Global & European HR Strategy in line with the Country Head and/or Senior Directors.
  • Develop solutions, actively and independently managing/ executing coordination of their implementation with the support of the relevant stakeholder
  • Ensure the Cluster/functional strategy is supported and executed in alignment with headcount allocation, resources, and the effective management of people
  • Accountable for implementing a cohesive, coherent people plan for the Cluster/Function business strategy where the subsequent solutions and actions are aligned with the business strategy
  • Provide expert insight into people and organizational issues, and partner with leaders at all levels
  • Support the change management programs to facilitate change, growth, and business objectives
  • Lead the design and rollout of specific cluster/functional programs
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues providing expert advice and quality decision making across the local business function and in collaboration with the relevant internal and external(legal/financial) stakeholders
  • Work closely with Cluster/Function management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale engagement and increase productivity and retention to further strengthen the employer brand
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Cluster Countries/Function regarding FTE and Headcount numbers, vacancies and further HR-KPIs
  • Partner with the internal local country responsible for payroll, work contracts and legal support
  • Overall responsibility for Cluster/ Function Recruitments (succession planning, Support on JDs, job ads, selection, interview participation, selection process, match with grading and salary budget) in liaison with the Cluster management
  • Manage, coordinate and collaborate with Cluster legal representatives, governance, and labour/contract law
  • Manage company-wide HR programs and initiatives in the own Cluster/Function (e.g., compensation review, training and development, retention and engagement strategies, and organizational change)
  • Participate in global and cross-regional HR projects as Cluster/Functional responsible to continuously improve HR Environment/Performance for the internal customer
  • Local control of local internal and regional and global HR processes in liaison with the responsible HR
  • Ensure a regional aligned Onboarding process within the Cluster/Function
  • Harmonize HR processes and benefits within the Cluster/Function in close collaboration with Regional HR
  • Support Cluster Head/Functional Head and Regional HR in the budget planning process

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in HR discipline, and HR professional qualification preferred.
  • 7+ years of HR Business Partner experience
  • Hands-on experience in managing HR topics in more than one European country is a benefit.
  • In-depth knowledge in HR speciality topics (recruitment, training etc.) is preferable             
  • A track record of providing expert HR consultation to leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Recent experience of delivery in all facets of human resources, including performance management, talent assessment, learning and development, organizational design and change management.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and advise where appropriate to help employees grow and develop in alignment with business and personal goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding and interpretation of local employment legislation
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); a minimum of one local language of the Cluster is a must
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
  • Strong business acumen and clear understanding of the role as a proactive HR service provider 
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Well-organized, high level of accuracy, detail-orientated and a resourceful mindset
  • Empathy & sensitivity in interacting with employees & managers 
  • Highly collaborative style. Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in teams, as both a lead and a supporting team member.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work with ambiguity to drive results. Able to deal with operational details, as well as conceptual issues.
  • Willingness to travel to the country offices within the Cluster/Europe, as well as for HR Team Meetings, ELT meetings
